How to run a PUBG Mobile tournament with battle royale lobbies

A PUBG Mobile tournament on ESPODIUM is played in lobbies, not head-to-head matches. You choose a lobby format for each stage, enter every squad's placement and eliminations after each map, and the standings add up placement points plus elimination points for you. This guide walks through each step using the names of the settings as they appear in the organizer tools.

Pick the mode and the roster size

When you create the tournament, the Tournament Mode field offers three PUBG Mobile modes:

  • Team (Squad): squads of 4, up to 25 squads in one lobby.
  • Duo: up to 50 duos in one lobby.
  • Solo (FFA): up to 100 players in one lobby.

This guide uses squads, the most common setup. Under Players in the Team Roster you set how many people a squad registers: the Captain and Main players make up the four who drop, and you can allow Substitutes, Coaches and Analysts on top. A captain whose roster breaks your limits sees the reason on screen and cannot submit until it is fixed.

Set your placement points

The Point System section has two buttons, Default and Custom. The default PUBG table scores the top seven finishes and nothing after that:

FinishPlacement points
1st10
2nd6
3rd5
4th4
5th3
6th2
7th1
8th to 25th0

Each elimination is worth 1 point, so a squad's score for a map is its placement points plus its eliminations. Choose Custom to type your own values into the eight fields.

Placements now run from 1st to 100th. Until late September 2026 results could only be saved for places 1 to 8, which broke any lobby with more than eight squads.

Choose a stage format

Open your tournament, go to the Admin tab, then Bracket & Stages. Under Stage setup, the panel headed Choose the stage structure offers three formats for PUBG:

  • League points: one lobby, every squad plays every round, and points keep adding up. You set Teams per lobby and the Number of rounds (it starts at 5). Use it when the whole field fits in one lobby.
  • Pool rotation: squads are split into groups, and two groups share each lobby on a rotating schedule. Use it when you have more squads than one lobby holds.
  • Knockout preset: a saved format from the library. For example, "25 squads → 8 final (1 lobby)" plays a best-of-three qualifier lobby and sends the top 8 to a best-of-six Grand Final.

PUBG stages no longer show options that do nothing for lobbies, such as Bracket Template or the 3rd-place match.

Set up pool rotation groups

Pool rotation is the format most PUBG events on ESPODIUM will need, so it gets the most detail here.

Qualifier groups

Set Stage type to Qualifier groups. Then choose:

  • Groups: how many groups to split the squads into. Groups are named Group A, Group B and so on, and their sizes never differ by more than one.
  • Group pairings: Each pair of groups meets once or Each pair of groups meets twice.

Each lobby is two groups playing together. With 32 squads in 4 groups of 8, every round has two lobbies of 16, and after three rounds every group has met every other group: A+D and B+C, then A+C and B+D, then A+B and C+D. With an odd number of groups, one group sits out each round.

You do not have to work this out yourself. Above the form, ESPODIUM suggests setups that fit your confirmed squad count, written like "4 groups of 8 · 3 rounds". For 48 squads it suggests 4 groups of 12 first, which gives two lobbies of 24 each round.

Below the fields, a live summary states the groups, lobbies and rounds as you type. It warns you if two groups together would overflow one lobby, and Show the draw lists every round's pairings.

Advanced settings

Lobby size and division rank ranges sit under Advanced. Preferred teams per lobby starts at 16 for squads. Most stages never need to touch it.

Preview, then generate

Generating is two steps on purpose:

  1. Press 1. Preview schedule and check the table.
  2. Press 2. Confirm and generate teams schedule. A dialog repeats the numbers (squads, groups, lobbies and rounds) before anything is created.

If you change a setting after previewing, the button changes to 1. Preview the changes and Generate stays off until you preview again, so you only ever create the schedule you saw. Until at least two participants are confirmed, the preview runs on 32 sample squads and Generate is disabled.

Once matches exist, the setup is fixed. To change it, use Reset stage, which brings the Generate button back.

Enter lobby results

Each round shows its lobbies as cards with Total, Place and Elim columns. Open a lobby with the Open lobby details button. The entry panel is headed Lobby placements and says: rank all teams in this lobby; kills and eliminations are optional.

  1. Give every squad its finishing place. Each place can be used once, and the form refuses a save with a clear message if two squads share a place.
  2. Expand a squad to type each player's eliminations. The squad's total is the sum of its players.
  3. Attach the result screenshots for the map.
  4. Press Save Round N Results (N is the round number).

In a duo tournament, eliminations count for both players in the duo.

In a pool rotation stage, a lobby is marked completed once every squad in it has a saved placement.

How the standings add up

The stage standings table has these columns:

  • TOTAL: placement points plus eliminations.
  • WWCD: maps won (winner winner chicken dinner).
  • PLCM: placement points.
  • ELIM: eliminations.
  • AVG PLCM: average finishing place, where lower is better.
  • Maps: maps played.

Squads level on total points are separated in this order: more WWCDs, then more placement points, then more eliminations, then the lower average placement. A Provisional badge marks a squad whose total still includes a round with unfinished lobbies.

If you split the event into several pool rotation stages, for example one per match day, the standings also show an Overall table that adds every stage together using the same tie-breaks.

On the public tournament page, Player Standings credits each player with their squad's placement points and their own elimination points. On a PUBG division stage, Bracket & Stages switches between the lobbies and the standings with a Bracket / Standings toggle, one view at a time.

Advance squads to the next stage

To build a second stage from the first stage's table, add a stage and choose pool rotation with Stage type set to Ranked divisions. Divisions take rank ranges from the previous stage: with Balanced rank ranges ticked (under Advanced) they are split evenly, or you can untick it and type a First rank and Last rank for each. Divisions start named Alpha and Beta, play 9 rounds by default, and Initial scores can Reset or Carry the previous stage's totals.

Once lobbies are played, the Division controls panel runs the handover:

  1. Press Finalize on each division when its lobbies are done. The next stage can only be seeded after every division is finalized. Reopen undoes it.
  2. Under Advancement, choose the stage in Advance into stage, choose Reset or Carry in Score carryover, and type how many squads go through from each division's top.
  3. Press Save advancement.

There is an optional Reason for the change field, useful when you change a division's rounds after a server problem.

ESPODIUM will not seed across an unresolved tie. If two squads are level on every tie-break exactly at the cut-off, generation stops with an "Unresolved PUBG tiebreak" error rather than picking one for you.

Checklist before match day

  • Tournament Mode set to Team (Squad), roster limits set.
  • Point System checked: Default, or your own values in Custom.
  • Stage format chosen; for pool rotation, previewed and then generated with every squad confirmed.
  • Someone on your team knows where Open lobby details and Save Round N Results are.
  • Screenshots collected for every map.
  • For a second stage: divisions finalized, advancement saved, no ties at the cut-off.
