From 6 October 2026, the DuitNow QR fee at ESPODIUM checkout is 1% of the registration fee, with a RM0.15 minimum. It used to be 1.6% with a RM1.50 cap. For most tournament fees you now pay less. For a registration fee above RM150 you pay a little more, because the cap is gone.
Nothing else at checkout changed: FPX, e-wallets, cards and the platform fee are the same as before.
What changed
Our payment partner, CHIP, moved DuitNow QR to a new channel and published a new rate for it. We updated ESPODIUM the same day so that what you pay matches what CHIP charges us, and no more.
| Before | From 6 October 2026 | |
|---|---|---|
| Rate | 1.6% of the registration fee | 1.0% of the registration fee |
| Minimum | RM0.15 | RM0.15 |
| Maximum | RM1.50 | None |
| Rounding | To the nearest sen | Always down to the sen |
What it means for your entry fee
The DuitNow QR fee appears at checkout as the Admin Processing Fee. These are the amounts for some common registration fees:
| Registration fee | Admin Processing Fee before | Admin Processing Fee now | Total you pay now |
|---|---|---|---|
| RM5 | RM0.15 | RM0.15 | RM5.30 |
| RM10 | RM0.16 | RM0.15 | RM10.30 |
| RM20 | RM0.32 | RM0.20 | RM20.40 |
| RM30 | RM0.48 | RM0.30 | RM30.60 |
| RM50 | RM0.80 | RM0.50 | RM51.00 |
| RM100 | RM1.50 | RM1.00 | RM102.00 |
| RM150 | RM1.50 | RM1.50 | RM153.00 |
| RM200 | RM1.50 | RM2.00 | RM204.00 |
| RM300 | RM1.50 | RM3.00 | RM305.00 |
The last column includes the Platform Fee, which has not changed (more on that below).
Of the 12 paid tournaments run on ESPODIUM so far, 11 charged under RM150 per entry, and the typical entry was about RM12.50, so for most players the fee goes down. A RM50 entry, for example, now carries a 50 sen processing fee instead of 80 sen. At RM150 the two rates meet. Above that, the old RM1.50 cap no longer applies, so a RM300 entry costs RM1.50 more than it did. If that matters for a large entry fee, FPX is a flat RM1.00 whatever the amount.
We never round up
While making this change we also checked how every percentage fee is rounded. Until now, ESPODIUM rounded to the nearest sen, which could add half a sen above the published rate: 1% of RM31.50 is RM0.315, and that was charged as RM0.32.
Percentage fees now always round down to the sen. That RM31.50 entry pays RM0.31. The change covers DuitNow QR, e-wallets and cards, so whichever of them you pay with, the fee is never above its published rate.
How fees work at checkout
When you pay a tournament fee, the Payment Breakdown shows three lines before you pay anything:
- Registration Fee: set by the organizer. ESPODIUM does not change it.
- Admin Processing Fee: what the payment gateway charges for the method you pick. Hover over the small info icon beside it to see the rate.
- Platform Fee: ESPODIUM's own service charge, 1% of the registration fee with a RM0.15 minimum and a RM2.00 maximum. This is unchanged.
The TOTAL at the bottom is the exact amount you will be charged. Change the payment method and the breakdown updates before you continue, so you can compare methods on the spot.
Fees for the other payment methods
These are unchanged, listed here so you can compare:
| Method | Admin Processing Fee |
|---|---|
| FPX (online banking) | RM1.00 flat |
| E-wallets (Touch 'n Go, GrabPay, ShopeePay, Maybank QR) | 1.4%, RM0.15 minimum |
| Local credit card | 2.0%, RM0.15 minimum |
| Local debit card | 1.0%, RM0.15 minimum |
| Foreign card | 3.0%, RM0.15 minimum |
| Upload Receipt (manual transfer) | 1.4%, RM0.15 minimum |
For the curious: the method code
DuitNow QR also got a new internal name at CHIP. The code our checkout sends to CHIP changed from duitnow_qr to dnqr, as set out in CHIP's notice. You do not need to do anything: the DuitNow QR option at checkout looks and works the same, and a checkout page you opened before the change still goes through. The new rate is the one on CHIP's pricing page.
